I called a tint place called LA tint, and they said due to dc regulations they can not tint front door windows and back windows can only be tinted to 50%. Is this true? He claims if it is tinted 49.99% I will fail my inspection. But I really want to tint 35 all around.

Might be true but you can usually get around that. Many guys up here in NY get their windows tinted darker then the legal limit however most local inspection stations wont fail you for that. If you go to NYS DMV inspection station they probably will. So my thought is your tint guy doesn't want any trouble with the cops but there have to be places around there that tint darker then the limit. As long as you stick to local garages and the like for inspections you should be cool too.

Yes, LA tint is correct, that is the DC law.
My suggestion is to make an appointment to get it tinted, then ask them when you show up, ask them to tint it to 50%. I have heard that DC cops are a real stickler for dark windows. FYI it will look even darker if you have a dark interior.
Also, I wouldn't go around telling everyone who tinted it that dark for you. I'm sure LA Tint wants their customers telling everyone that they tinted you past the legal limit.
