the door panel says 32 psi for three people and 42 psi for 5 people. i put like 36-38 regardless. is this ok? what do you guys use?

If you do a lot of high-speed highway driving, you should put a few extra pounds of air in. But I do a lot of driving in a city where the roads are filled with bumps and potholes, so to keep things to a comfort level I can stand, I run 34 psi. Also, I am the only one in my car 75 percent of the time, so anything higher than that feels harsh. But it's really up to your personal preferences. Check your tires after awhile. If they're wearing evenly, you've got the right psi.

thanks to all, i drive 50/50..50% by myself and 50% with like 3 or 4 extra passengers. so it will be an adventure keeping track of the pressure

Yup - 38 seems to be a good compromise for me. I just can't imagine changing air pressure every time I put another body in, or out of the car.
