Tires/Wheels Question
I have an '02 1.8T Avant. A buddy of mine wants to sell me some after market wheels. They are off a TT (not sure of year) - 17" wheels with 225/55-17's mounted. Sorry I don't have more info than that right now. I currently have the 215/55-16 optional package.
Will these be a direct replacement or should I have concerns?

TTs have different bolt pattern from your A4...
TT: 5x100
A4: 5x112
In addition, that 225/55/17 tire size is a bit too tall for your A4. Heck, it's even too tall for the TT. The TTs run on 225/45/17 stock, and your A4 needs 235/45/17.

Thanks for the quick reply. I checked the message threads and found my answer. TT = 5x100 and A4 = 5x112 so the wheels won't fit.

Okay, now that I have my answer to that question, how about this:
I am thinking of upgrading to 17" wheels, for performance and looks. I like the look of chrome wheels on a black car.
What wheels/tires would you all suggest to replace my stock 215/55-16's? Would my logical tire choice be 235/45-17 to keep the diameter the same or does that even matter?
These would not be used in the snow, but I also don't need top-notch autocrossing tires either.
Would this even be a worthwhile upgrade or am I wasting my money?
