On the topic of VC gaskets...
Are the cams in the 1.8T Elec controlled at all? Or are they just connected together with a timing chain like the old motors? Just curious if i ever/when i have to replace the VC Gasket on my 1.8T.

well, a timing belt, not a timing chain
pretty sure they're standard in that they spin off the timing belt and nothing else. Make sure you change your TB at ~60K miles though.

no no, there is one timing pully.
underneath the cover there are two cams. THe timing belt moves the one pulley but a chain connects to two cams. are there any electronic cam position deals kinda like a vtec or something?

Has anyone complained about fitment issues w/ new VC gaskets?
Particularly the small half circle @ the back of the exhaust cam. Mine seems to be a little bit high, and I know it will start leaking there sooner or later.
