Default Toyo T1-S or Bridgestone S03 ?

I just got a source that can get me T1-S's at a cheaper price than the S03's.

Size: 235/45/17

Total price of S03's (shipped, mounted, balanced & installed): $1560 CDN
Total price of T1-S's (shipped, mounted, balanced & installed): $1337 CDN

T1-S's are also 4 lbs lighter than the S03's.

I want good lip protection and the tires I buy will be on the car for the summer only (5-6 months/year).

Has anyone had both and want to recommend one over the other?

Is this a no brainer?

I have had both, the S03's blow away the T1's in terms of grip and wet weather traction.

How about a nice set of near-new Conti's? I'll sell 'em to you cheap! :&gt

Default Treadwear. Think treadwear. The S-03s may have better grip but I would bet that they both will ...

wear at the same rate. So let's say they both will last 15k miles. If they last longer then you are not driving hard enough. ;-) I would rather save the $223 and go with the tire that still offers great handling. Yes the S-03 may be better but that's not to say that the T1-S is pretty damn good. The last time I checked I drive on public roads where there are laws. That tends to negate the .4 second lap time advantage one tire has over another.

Save the cash because you will need it in 2 years when you need to buy tires again.

Default Tire weight ...

I've got S-03s now, and for some reason I don't think they are any better than Pirelli P6000s (OEM) in the dry. Now, in the wet, the S-03s excel.

But, as you noticed, they are pretty heavy. I got myself light rims, but put on heavy tires, so in the end, I probably made my situation worse. I'm seriously thinking about the T1-S for next time, or SP9000s if I get bored of fast cornering (yeah right!).

Default Proxes are rated at 280 for tread, the S03's are rated at 220. So the T1-S should last longer.

Maybe I should just get Kumho Ecsta's and have more money in 4 years for the new S4.
