Is it true that Audi OEM rotors are designed for one use and cannot be resurfaced?
A few questions regarding changing pads & rotors...
1.) My rear pads are extremely low and need to be replaced. Is it allowable to have the rotors resurfaced and just replace the pads? The rotors were installed at 47k and the car currently had 93k.
2.) Front pads also are looking quite low and need replacement. The rotors, ATE Power Disc, were installed at 57k. Again, the car currently has 93k. The ATE's still show slots which leads me to believe that they still have some life. According to ATE, the rotors are at min spec when the slots have worn away. Would anyone advise against re-using the 36k old ATE's with new pads?
Thanks in advance for any input,
Matt

I wouldn't use new pads on a disc that has not been resurfaced....
I would think the old rotors would be junk if the amount you needed to take off in order to resurface them brought them under the min spec. Then again, I don't think I would want to use rotors that are at the end of their life before any normal wear took place after they were cut down. There pretty cheap - so I'd just get new ones.
