Is it true? Can you really get both rear fogs working by just screwing in a bulb on the right side?

I pulled the bulb from the left side and plugged it in on the right side. Bam, it lit up.

Saw an A6 today w/2 rear fogs & it was actually foggy out for once.Supposed to be behind driver.

that's why there are 2, one for here and one for over there for the right-drivers. Why does it seem every A6 has the rear foglight on? People must want the extra light on the dash and not know what it's for. Today's car must have just had the light on all the time, it just *happend* to be foggy. I think Avants are different, side-specific wiring, sorry guys.
