Default To answer:

The trim is a metra double-din faceplate made for 2002+ Audi. Fits perfect. There is no custom work involved (other than the sub mount). Everything up front pretty much slid right in and locked.
Switch on the left is for voice-activation for NAV. The DV3100 can be voice controlled.
No rattle on outside of car when turned up. This isn't a "wake the neighborhood" system. It can, but I don't have the gains turned up like that. The one time I did crank the gains and the "bass boost", just to see what this sub can do, it was too much for my tastes. But it did thump, boy.
It really gives a low-end that our cars don't have stock. Makes you feel the lows.
There is a more lengthy write up in the audio forum towards the bottom of the page. Lots of screen pics there, or just look at my pic poster.

Default It was the plastic housing that held nothing...

The factory XM was mounted on top of that, and my guess was that it was for a disc changer, too. But otherwise useless space. Took it out (4 bolts), and man there was some serious room.
