Default Turbine Whine
I'm new to the A4 world. Just bought a 2002 quattro A4 3.0 last week. About five seconds after I shut down the engine I hear a whining noise that sounds like a turbine shuting down. What am I really hearing?

Apropos of nothing, this car is awesome. I've never enjoyed driving more.

It's the HVAC shutting down. Most of us love that sound- Reminds me of the Millenium Falcon

Default Btw, if you sit in your car for a minute or two after you shut down, what are those noises
that sound like electronic parts moving? I always wondered what that was? It sounds like something is recalibrating.

That's the flux capacitor shutdown. You'll find it under the air intake.

Default you probably hear those sounds also when you make contact but dont start
its some hard ticking like noise if it is the noise i think you mean

Nope, not a hard ticking noise - sounds like "robotic" gears...
