Default Turbo was glowing hot

After a short drive today I figured I'd pop the hood and check out the insides. I was surprised as hell to see the turbo pretty red. I always leave the car running for couple minutes to let the oil recirculate to the turbo but I really wonder how long these engines will last if after a short drive the turbo is that hot!! I can only imagine when it is chipped!!

Default turbos do that...

it was probably glowing very little. check it out after doing a track event or something when the turbo, and everything around it is beat red! i mean, you could read a book its so bright. just make sure you let the engine cool down long enough and it will be fine.

Default How long should you wait to cool down the turbo?

After you park how long should you wait before shutting the engine?

Default A lot of people do 1 min...

Open your drivers door. When the car stops ringing, it's been 60 sec.

Should I always wait 1 min or just after hard driving?

Only after hard driving. Slow down as you approach your destination. Consider ambient tempature too.

I thought the ringing was 45 seconds o_o

I just reset my trip timer and let it go to 2 minutes, heh.

One tip I've heard a few times is "drive like a grandma" the last few miles
