Default Turbo Inlet Pipe BT...

What would be the benefit of using a solid TIP (JJ Tip, O.cT) vs a silicone TIP (Forge, Samco, etc)? I've noticed in my research that the solid TIP's are not as popular, but seem to be found on the cars pushing higher numbers out of a K04. I'm hoping someone could explain some pro's/con's of each type and post personal experience with the one you have/had. TIA

Default I think it's pretty simple, solid doesn't collapse at all

I doubt there's a significant difference though, between the silicone and solid TIPs.

Installing the solid pipe is harder.

Default I have the APR Tip which is silicone but spring-wound to add stiffness and prevent it from

collapsing. Works for me.

Default Over time...

its reported the Silicone gets flimsy from the oil from the crankcase recirc fumes. I've never experienced this, but have read a couple post say they have...

Tough to say how log it takes for the blow-by oil to effect the silicone hose, enough to allow it to deform under boost.

The Solid TIP's wont suffer from this.

Default IMO, the better buy is the Forge...

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/6607/forge.jpg"></center><p>
as I've owned all 3. The First one I bought was the APR. The Forge, which only cost $20 more than the APR, but didnt need a "T" and came with clamps, was bigger. The Forge also fit without any problems, on my 2004.

The Neuspeed costs over $100 more than the Forge, and the 2004 Neuspeed even more, because of an adapter hose needed. The Forge did not need the hose.

I currently have the Neuspeed, as I bought is second hand for a good price.

To date, the Forge, I still like better.

Only down side, is the Forge is for K03/K04 only.

The Neuspeed has an adapter plate($50) from Neuspeed, which allows it to work on larger turbo's .

If your running a K03/K04, get the Forge.

Big Turbo, you have to get the Neuspeed.

I got it back when I bought my AFE Dry filter...

It did not fit as well as the Forge...

Both are made by Samco.
