When first starting the car the turbo whines pretty loudly until it warms up. I didn't have this whine until I had a GIAC chip installed. I have switched to a neuspeed chip, but the whine is still there. Is this normal?

Its definitely more noticeable with my APR chip. Especially when driving.

My understanding is that turbos that whine, always whine. Turbos that don't, shouldn't start to. A change from whining to a cessation in whining or the converse may indicate a bigger problem.

A turbo should whine in proportion to the load on it. There should be no load when idling.
