turn signal blinks wrong direction

turn signal blinks wrong direction
I searched the forums and didn't find anything so I am sorry if this is already a known.
Our 02 A4 1.8T Quattro - when you turn the turn signal all the way to the right, the left blinkers turn on. In this position if you lightly touch the stalk down it flips back to blinking on the right side.
Further, if you just use the passing signal bump the blinker works fine. Just the problem in full turn mode.
Thoughts? Is this a documented problem?

I experienced a similar problem a few weeks ago.
When it happened to me it blinked once in the wrong direction then corrected itself. It hasn't happened since (knock on wood).
