Unexplained RPM Spikes/Power Lag
I have a 2004 A4 with a manual transmission and 90K miles. Recently, I've noticed that sometimes when I'm in 3rd, 4th, or 5th gear, and I step on the gas, the engine will temporarily rev up (a spike of maybe 500 rpms) without any commensurate acceleration. The rpm needle then drops back, and eventually I get the acceleration. My apologies for the awkward explanation -- I don't know how else to describe this.
