Default UPDATE 2 --- Fast Intentions Downpipe for 1.8T Tiptronic

Okay, so Joseph (aka bla4ck) asked me to step in to test fit the first downpipe that came out of the jig. If you recall from an earlier post a month ago from bla4ck, he had Fast Intentions fabricate a downpipe for the "intention" of producing amounts enough for a GB.

What they did at that time was to manually build a new downpipe from scratch right on his car. From there, they buit a jib that would serve as the "mold" for future downpipe orders. Before they produced mass amounts, they of course had to make one that came out of the jig and without having an Audi on hand to test the fit - that's where I came in.

Last Friday I was at Fast Intentions to offer my car as test model to see if the jig produced a good fit. Well, I am happy to report that they produced a great fit. No changes were done at all to the downpipe as it bolted in and fit perfectly. No more cutting, welding or bending was needed and it's ready for our group buy.

Finally, Tiptronic owners with or without aftermarket exhausts can rejoice and equip their cars with larger breathing downpipes that look elegant and classy than the stock.

For questions, GB instructions, payments, processing and announcement of actual orders, bla4ck will be taking over from here. I am just a fellow enthusiast helping out make sure all future orders from the GB will fit exactly as intended.

Here are the pics:

The old downpipe in our cars.

If you want to know the part number, here it is.

The new downpipe being installed. It's hanging at this point and bolted to the Cat (not seen) and awaiting to be bolted to the exhaust end (where flat tip screwdriver is seen on the left).

You can see where the new downpipe is leading up and onto towards the Cat.

The downpipe is finally bolted to the exhaust part.

DP finally in it's righteous place.

The reverse view from above - this pic is taken from engine side looking towards exhaust end.

For the curious minds, here is what the downpipe jig looks like.
<img src="http://www.oneframeoff.com/audi/dp_jig1.jpg">

Not aparent here, but there are various number markings to denote angles where the tube bends at certain points.
<img src="http://www.oneframeoff.com/audi/dp_jig2.jpg">

Because this is their prototype downpipe, they cut it up into sections to create an exact measurement of tube size and angle. But the final product will be one long *** stainless steel, mandrel bent downpipe as you can see way above.
<img src="http://www.oneframeoff.com/audi/dp_jig3.jpg">

And finally, for those that survived it this far I present to you the shop that created the downpipe for our GB. My car is awaiting to be serviced.
<img src="http://www.oneframeoff.com/audi/fi_rear.jpg">

This is the front entrance to their shop.
<img src="http://www.oneframeoff.com/audi/fi_front.jpg">

They were pretty busy that day. The 4 big boxes contain complete exhaust kits for lucky Infinity G35 cars. 2 boxes per kit. So 2 separate customers ordered the kit both going to the east side.
<img src="http://www.oneframeoff.com/audi/fi_shop.jpg">

The shop co-owner, Danny, is fond of muscle cars as you can see here. However, they are known among Audi/Lamborghini/Porsche, Nissan/Infinity, Ford and muscle car enthusiasts for their high performance exhaust artwork.

Default What size pipe are they using?

Looks to be a quality piece and I'd be very interested.

Default Np. Was going to answer anyway. But just to add more info...

these pipes fit both OEM and aftermarket exhausts. For any other odd sizes, you may have Fast Intentions create a custom tip to accommodate these. The downpipe will be the same as this is the maximum size that can fit a Tiptronic transmission with the possibility of installing the pipe without removing any other part beside it. It's a respectable tight fit.

i'm pretty sure the B5 &amp; B6 downpipe differ. its only the cat/test pipe that is interchangable

Default looks nice but i think its not really an Audi outfit/shop..i question performance though

its a shop with Rustangs and chevy trucks...not really a true european tuner IMO.

Default don't be so judgemental. Danny is the same guy that worked at LaBree and did most of the Audi stufft

there. trust me, he knows our cars very well and have many loyal customers. maybe i should have taken pics when i had my downpipe down because in addition to my B6, there was an RS6, a B7 A4, and a B5 S4.
