Default Update on Engine Flip

I got my car back from the dealer yesterday after my engine freak out over the weekend. They plugged it in to find the codes and the answer I got from my service advisor is that they were all "sporadic" codes. So apparently "sporadic" codes will cause your engine to freak out on the Interstate while you are going 80. Just thought I would let everyone know. Enjoy!

Well, since it just happened the one time that you described in your other post, I would brush it off as a fluke for now. Since the codes didn't point to any real problem, it could have been caused by any number of random events.

Maybe your engine just has personality.

Yah I am brushing it off for now. As long as my engines personality doesnt clash with mine anymore, we should have a nice healthy relationship.
To show my love for my car today (even though I hated it 48 hours ago) I got to work at 8:00 and left 30 minutes later to take it home and put it in the garage. We were supposed to get 2 inch hail, it didnt happen...but if it would have happened...I dont think it would have ever forgiven me.

Might be interesting to know WHAT sporadic codes were thrown?

Default I thought the same thing yesterday....

I dont know what codes it would even throw out, possibly speed codes, code for every time engine is turned on, turned off..etc. After checking the engine light and getting the codes he put this on my invoice:

"2993 light is not on now 5051 CODEP1639, Checked value blocks 125,126,127 all modules are on, no further repairs at this time." The first few lines are like reading German to me, but I was pleased to read "no further repairs at this time." Notice..THIS TIME.

Default Ahhh that may explain it right there.

They did list the code. The "5051 CODEP1639" seems to be indicating that the code they retrieved was P1639 (SAE), which indicates a problem with the accelerator pedal, I believe ("accelera.pedal pos.sensor 1+2 Range/Performance"). Because our cars are drive-by-wire, the accelerator pedal has a sensor to detect what position the pedal is at, and therefore how far to open the throttle. If the sensor(s) has a problem, the car will drop into the "safety" mode that you experienced, reducing power by leaving the throttle at a set position.

Now, what caused it to think there was a problem with the pedal is anyone's guess, but it seems to be working for you fine now. There's no safety concern if the pedal does fail again, as you can still drive the car to safety/the dealer, just with reduced power.

Default Damn ur good!! That would also explain why I couldnt get the cruise control to set either...

I was on the interstate with my foot on the pedal at the same rate, so I dont know why the sensor would trigger. Your explanation is right on because my car was at the same throttle the whole way back. You must work at a dealership or something, I wish you worked at mine b/c they couldnt figure it out.
