Update on suspected wheel bearing problem
I've posted the link to the original thread
So yesterday I took the car out and this is what I get:
The whirring noise I hear increases with speed but never gets louder than the engine when I'm driving the car hard. THis makes me think it is just the tires.
The noise seems present when turning, but I can't really tell clearly because when I'm turning the reduced speed decreases the noise some, but it is still somewhat audible, so again I'm thinking its the tires.
Today hopefully I'll be able to put the car up on my neighbor's lift (if I can convince him to move his '69 GTO off of there) and see if I get any lateral movement when shaking the wheels (thanks for the tip Jeff!).
I'm at 63K miles now, and car still runs good, but I have the gut feeling that I should do some serious maintanence work on the car now if I want to continue to be (relatively) problem free. I'm thinking in the next month: timing belt/water pump/new tranny fluid/replace G12 coolant/replace breather hose/4 new 'R' coilpacks, and maybe some other stuff. And just in time, school starts in one week :/

Original thread
