Default upper oil pan

To make a long story short:
I have tried to remove the upper oil pan. I have all of the bolts (I think) out and it will not free itself. The front is free but the rear is still holding on. I have even removed the anti freeze drain plug and it still will not come free, am I missing a bold that goes into the pan from the back? I am afraid that if I torque much harder on the pan I will crack/ warp it (assuming that I haven't already).

Does anyone have an actual set of removal instructions or a good picture?

Thanks!!

Andrew

Default Yes.

You will need some LONG allen bits for the back ones. Get a flash light and look in the holes.

Default No.

You need to be looking in the recessed areas on the pan on the back. You're going to need a flash light. They are up there and if you don't get them out, you will break the pan in the process. What engine are you doing this on and do you still have the subframe in the car? If you do, what are you using to support the engine with?

Default Re: No.

I have the trans supported with a jack and a 4x4. The motor is supported by two 4x4 one on each side of the bay then a 4x4 across the bay with a chain around through the forward holes in the head that were designed for pulling the block.

the motor is the 12valve v6 2.8.

the subframe is lowered enough that if I ever get the pan off I can get the pan out.

I will check on the bolt holes again in teh back but I am faily certian that I got all of the screws out.

please please if you have a good picture I would greatly appreciate that too!!!

thanks!!

Default This is for a 30V but should be pretty similar.

You will need to scroll down a bit to find it but there are some pics in there.<ul><li><a href="http://1.8t.org/~quattroman/Audi%20B5%2097-2001/Engine%20Mechanical/2.8%20V6%205V%20(%20AHA%20&amp;%20ATQ%20)/Engine/17-1%20Lubrication%20system%20components%20remove%20a nd%20install.pdf">Clicky.</a></li></ul>
