Just got my V1 and I'm trying to hardwire it. Yes, I did a search in all A4 B6 & B7, S4 B6 & B7 and the "technical articles" and got lot of information in how to do it, but I'm not very handy and I'm looking for a close-up picture of the fuse box and how the wire is attached to the fuse (the couple of pictures that were uploaded in this site doesn't really show detail). So, if anyone has it and can post a picture that will help me a lot.
Thanks a lot!

Do yourself a favor: go to radio shack and get some fuse taps. They are little brass-colored pieces that basically clip onto a fuse. When you reinsert the fuse into the fuse box, the tap goes in with it and makes a connection. Then you'll have a little spade connector to connect whatever wire you want (the V1 red wire in this case). You can kind of see it in the picture. Most people tap a fuse that is ignition switched, i.e. the detector turns on when the car turns on.

had an extra space for a second fuse. Not sure what it was called. That way the detector has its own fuse. My friend did the install for me though so I'm not sure what was going on ![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
As for which fuse to use ... like you I chose one that would be off when the car was off, which was the rear view mirror compass/reverse light fuse.

heres what the simple ones look like.

All you need to do is slip it on the fuse and attach the wire per you choice (additional clip, wrapping the wire, etc.) You can use the thing that came with the V1 for hardwiring, and then you dont have to cut any wires. Let me know if you want any other pictures. good luck

I just got a V1 earlier this week. I was planning on tapping into the reversing lights/mirror fuse (#31 as shown in the chart). Thats what a few have done on this forum, and it has worked out for them for several years. I'll post pictures of my install when I complete it.
