Default VAG adjust acceleration response time?

My 3.0 Tip feels like there is a 3 second time delay between pressing the accel pedal and engine response/movement. Can this be dealer adjusted?

Default It's probably the famed "throttle lag", exacerbated by the Tip... (more)

neither can really be improved by the dealer, unfortunately. But like BMWSLYR says, 3 seconds does seem like longer than normal. If it is indeed 3 seconds, you may want to do a search or post another thread asking other tip owners if they experience this same length delay (I have a manual).

Default Yes, you want to perform "throttle adaptation" with the VAG, but why not let the dealer do it?

There may be something else wrong.

My 3.0 has perfect response to the pedal, zero delay...and believe me I'm very picky when it comes to throttle response. My car would have been sold already if a 3 second delay was considered normal!

Default Hm.. an out of whack throttle adaptation (incorrect stored travel range) would just cause (more)

less power than normal in a negative situation (due to the throttle not opening as wide as it should for the situation). I don't think it would cause a delay, as a bad travel range wouldn't make it take longer before opening at all... What was your reasoning?

Not saying it's a bad idea to do a throttle adaptation (I used to do it every so often on my GTI), but not sure it would help...

Default I have seen this talked about on the VAG-COM listserver a few times!

Worth a try as it's simple to do. Now grant you I have a manual trans and BM196 doesn't state his trans so maybe there is a dialed in delay with an auto trans. But let me assure you that if anyone states there is a delay/hesitation with throttle-by-wire inherent to the 3.0 A4....have them contact me as mine is just perfect, positively instantaneous response...just as it should have been designed to do so!

Default he said he has a Tip :) But yeah, mine has little delay either - it's also a manual (more)

One other thing he should try (if he's doing it) is NOT slamming the pedal down to WOT from a stop - the emissions control in the ECU will make the delay worse in this situation.

Default Yes, Tip, missed that. Other subject BOSE VAGing??

You stated in another post that you have VAG'd the BOSE from BOSE to non-Bose. Did you hear any difference in sound between the 2 settings? I really dislike the sound dynamics of my '02 BOSE compared to my '97 A4 BOSE which was just great! So I'm looking for a fix. Where do you go into the VAGCOM to change the coding? Whhat do you change?

Default Also, it had always been mentioned that you needed an aftermarket chip for eliminating (more)

throttle lag, like GIAC lists on their site as a feature of their VR6 chip, etc. It's always been more a function of the emissions control...

I'm on the VAG-COM list, and there's often mention of throttle adaptation, so I'm sure the delay has been mentioned in some of them... Not sure I ever heard concrete reasoning/positive results for a throttle adaptation helping the lag though. I guess it depends on how serious it is and what tranny...
