Last weekend I got my new laptop and VAG-COM cable. I've already done the windows and fog light mods and a very pleased with both. The fogs now work without the headlights on and WITH the brights on.... very cool. What other mods are there? Has anyone here changed the language of the dash mounted display? I'd like to switch to German for S & G's. What about instrument panel mods, like lighting the dial hands all the time? BTW, anyone who would like to visit the Pacific Beach area in SD, I'd be glad to hook up your ride with the VAG-COM mods. E-mail me at rleed@hanqual.com if interested.....

You can also change the lighting of the needles. Do you have the codes from Ross-Tech.com? If not do a search for vag codes and look through those codes. You can basically see what you can change.

on my '00 the procedure is log into block 17 instruments. then go to adaptation. Then go to channel 4, and change the value from 2 (english) to something else (1 for example is german). it will show the change as soon as you hit test for the new value. you then save and exit.

I have tried this on a couple '02 A4's (and a 2002 TT) and although that particular channel still indicates it is for language, and the default value is still 2, changing it does not affect the display.

Did you do something different than this, or did you save the change and it was the NEXT time you put the key in that the changes took effect? I'd like to know, becuase I have a couple people who wanted that mod, and I couldn't do it.

It is done the exact same way as pre-02, I think you must shut car off then turn on to see it though
