If you do a lot of City driving you could look at the Escort 8500 x50.

Default to me it was not and i went with a passport 8500 x50 (reasons inside)

1... if the only reason is money... thats a bad excuse because taking an inferior detector would hurt when you get 1 ticket... so money was a nice bonus but not the reason

the reasons:
1. like the v1 the passport or the bel pro rx65 (i think these are the top 3 detectors easily) has a bogey finder... so i see the strength of each band of radar all together

2. the v1 of the top 3 has the worst filters ... meaning it falses more than the rest and is relatively annoying...

3. the selling point of the v1 is the arrows as everyone will say...

to me, when my detector goes off with Ka-band or K-band (when it isn't the normal walgreens door, etc.) I am aware of my surroundings.

The short...

i feel like the bel pro rx65 and passport 8500 x50 have better range (in my personal experience) and to me that was more important than some arrows.

Default more than likely... but might as well voice my opinion and reasoning that is the point

not to mention i have pretty reasonable first hand knowledge...

i have the passport 8500 x50

i have 1 friend with the passport, v1, and bel pro rx65

another friend with a v1

and another friend with a bel pro rx65

and another friend with a passport 8500

the friend with all 3 ... also has radar guns and laser guns... so we do tests
