Vehicle shifts to "S" mode on its own..
I drive a A4 B6 04 2 litre model, which also includes Tiptronics.
I have been having this problem recently with the car going into S mode from D mode on its own, on random occasions. It is an Automatic and I am wondering, could it be the cars computer system playing up on me? What are the possible diagnostic fixes for it?

it is mostl likley in the shifter. either it is out of adjustment, or the magnets are loose. you can pop the cover cover off and clean it. it is more common to go from D to 1st in tiptronic mode then not sift out of first.
their are 2 parts to the shifter cover. the whole elecrical protion snaps off the shifter, and the silver top unsnaps from that. and under the silver top is the electrical contacts and the 3 magnets which are stuck to the rubber. usually what happens is one of the magents gets nocked off or the circuit board comes unsnapped from the housing which then throws off the sensors.
