Vibration from right rear of car - I know one of you has to have this problem

I've heard it on 2 A4s, and when I posed the question a few months ago, the consensus was "fuel pump." Basically it sounds like a whiny vibration that's intermittent.
The car's in the shop for its 20k, and they can't find anything wrong. I told them to keep it overnight b/c it's especially loud in the morning.
Any idea what it could be?

One of the guys at a dyno day had his car on fumes and the fuel pump started whining he was so low on gas. The sound is distinct and easily traced to the rear of the car.
