VIDEO: Resonator removed. Sounds great. Performance Increase!
I decided to remove my resonator and see what I gain from it, so I went ahead and did it for $65 and around 1 hour of my time. I dropped the car off at Midas for the operation. The video dosen't really justify what it exactly sounds like, but it's fairly loud, it sounds in between a mustang and a nice tuned engine. A nice grumble at idle, and through the range of 1500 - 4000rpm. Once passed 4K you hear the natural exaust with no added sound. But ohh man when the engine upshifts at redline, what a sound In the video, towards the end, you will hear the exaust coming in and out, that is me modulating the gas. The shakiness of the camera is my friends fault. Sorry for the cheap video quality etc, I put the video together in like 5mins, was too lazy to re-install Premiere so I used Windows Moviemaker I also forgot to mention the damn resonator weighs a whopping 45-50lbs, maybe even more. The car feels a bit more preppy and the rev's seem to flow smother on the car Drop me a e-mail if you got any questions: mpr86@yahoo.com

One per exhaust pipe to each cylinder bank for the V6
Okay, I've (or the Audi group here in Toronto) been educated by Brullen here that by removing your resonator does not give you any extra power (unless somebody can post hard numbers before and after). The purpose of the resonator is to reduce/eliminate the pulsating noise that is generated by the motor so it doesn't drive people inside crazy. The muffler is to reduce the exhaust volume. Now if there are two for the 1.8T maybe it's just to further eliminate the pulsating noise, not sure.
It's not so bad with us as the noise is softend by the trunk we have, but if you drive a hatchback the noise is much more noticeable.
Reminds me, I still need to get in touch with Brullen here to get him to okay my little writeup for audiworld/audizine still.....
