I take my son out for a walk and come back to the thread below??!! LOL......m....
Now, what I REALLY meant is that it is good practice, not required, to put a ferrite choke around the current carrying wires of an aftermarket system. The ferrites will supress any electromagnetic radiation that may be emitted by the new PC that could interact with other electrical devices in the car, especially those on the same electrical node of Vpwr or GND. By doubling your processor speed, you'll more than liekly see an increase in current draw, and therefore emissions.
It's a big deal for us at work, since our modules (ECUs) are typically sources of EMI that can effect radio reception and other features if not engineered properly. Audi I'm sure does system testing with their OEM equipment, but obviously not with a unit installed like the one you have.
There's probably nothing to worry about either way, I was just curious. I don't mean to stir any trouble.

no no, tell me more. My last system worked fin, emitted some engine noise that was minor and
acceptable compared to what it was before I reduced it. But what does this choke look like? is it just a simple splice? and does it reduce ANYTHING that would hurt performance?
