Default The waiting is over... I have my car... Some experiences from the first night with my 02 A4...

Okay, so I picked up my new A4 tonight (see sig for details)... and all I have to say is: I'm in love.

I've had a smile on my face for the past 4 hours... my face hurts, but I'm happy.

The car handles incredibly. Admittedly, I've only driven American cars since I was 16, so maybe an experience in any German engineered car will blow me away. However, I did drive the 2001 325i and the 2001 S40 before choosing to order this one back in June.

I'll relate a few of my experiences during the past four hours that brought a smile to my face and to the faces of my friends.

I was driving on a deserted back road when suddenly we smelled skunk. Almost instantly, the air filtering system stopped pumping air from outside and recirculated the air already in the car. All our mouths dropped wide open.

First test: How the car handles around long curves. Note: I'm driving with 15" alloys for the winter, and I don't have the sport suspension. If anybody from Ottawa is reading this, we took the Nicholas on-ramp heading east, on the outside lane. The car breezed around the turn doing about 90 km/h. My friends couldn't believe it. No tire squeeling, not even a hint of impending loss of control.

In the downtown area, a guy driving a new A8, pulls up beside me and admires my car. I smile back. At the next light, he pulled into the left lane, and rolled down the passenger side window. I pulled in beside him...

Him: Isn't it great to drive an awesome car?

Me: Absolutely!

Him: How do you like it?

Me: I LOVE it! It's incredible.

Him: I really like the new body. Looks great! I drove the S8 (I didn't know there was an S8 in Canada) yesterday and didn't like it too much. But I like your car alot.

Me: *speechless*.... errr... ummm... thank you.

The light turned green and we said goodnight.

Someone in a black B5 with celebration rims did a triple take when I drove by in the opposite direction. I just smiled... hehehe...

Anyways, I don't think I can be any happier with the car.

To everybody that's waiting for their A4 to come in... YOU'RE GONNA LOVE IT!

Writing from Toronto. Sounds like you're having a blast. So too am I ('02 A4 3.0 Quattro)

I was curious about the winter rims and tires you're using. I'm looking right now for some, what are you using?
