Warranty Denied

I am a Warranty Administrator for an Audi dealer and felt I should put my two cents in to round out the discussion. Every dealer in the country basis their warranty decisions on the same guidelines which are stated in the "Audi Warranty Policy & Procedure Manaul". Article 1 of that manual explains the warranty coverages by model year. On page 1 of Art. 1 it states under the warranty exlusions "malfunctions caused by use of high performance parts, modifications to the vehicle, use of non-OEM parts (and any subsequent damage including damage or malfunctions to associated parts or systems) i.e. "chip tuning" or other modifications of factory installed engine management systems that would alter the vehicle performance specifications from those set by the vehicle manufacturer......" it goes on but the rest is irrelevant to this thread. So what does that mean? It means, based on the limited info given in the original post, that the dealer made the correct decision in denying coverage. I would have done the same thing. You have to understand that our hands are tied in these situations. If that dealer had repaired your vehicle under warranty they would not have been reimbursed by Audi for the repair, in effect, the dealer would have been the one paying for the repair. The fact that you have called Audi and they have repeatedly denied your coverage just serves to illustrate my point. All that being said, I don't agree with Audi's decision. I personally feel they should take care of it. But the point I want to make is that most dealers don't have anything against people who mod their cars. Actually most dealers really like modders because, let's face it, you guys spend the money to keep your cars in good shape. In this situation, your dealer is stuck between a rock and a hard place. I guarantee they don't want to lose you as a customer but they also shouldn't be held responsible for the repair (or the refusal to repair). They are simply trying to run a business by the rules given to them. My advise is to contact your dealer, have them contact their/your area rep (called an FOM) and schedule a time for you all to sit down and talk. I hope this has helped and good luck in getting this resolved.
