Default had the same problem....

when it trips, hold the nozzle into the tank just far enough to let the excess gasses release from the tank. You will no when they are releasing cause it is a significantly loud hissing sound.

Been there... tried that... Even when the pressure has gone down, it still won't let any gas into the tank. I'm going out to try again today, and I'm going to do some more experimentation - shaking the car, waiting 5 min for pressure to do ALL the way down, etc... Wish me luck!

Default Re: how strong are those rails? been contemplating one.

The lift is rated for 7000lbs, but I'd say it'll hold more. Each rail is 1/4" diamond plate - yep, very beefy; about 300lbs each. It was a PITA to set up, but much cheaper than a new garage!

Default Re: Hey, what brand lift is that? Got any dimensions? Website? TIA

I'll post all this because I wasn't able to get much off the various sites last summer when I was looking to install -

Please feel free to cc to other lists/groups.

I determined that most lifts on the market are very similar - or copies of each other. They have minor variations, such as lift capacity, metal thickness and adequate documentation. One big variable is PRICE, and sometimes it matters, other times it doesn't.

I bought a MECO-brand lift http://www.meco-equipment.com/four-post-lifts.html, which is really made by Gemini Lifts http://www.geminilift.com (I found out after reading stickers on some parts). I've been satisfied with the lift quality, but not the purchase experience. The documentation was LOUSY. Fortunately, Gemini is an EXACT copy of a more expensive Eagle Lift http://www.eagleequip.com/, and Eagle publishes their manuals on their web site.

Had I known that MECO is really Gemini, I would have simply cut out the middleman, and possibly paid less $. Meco = $2,300. Eagle = $3,000. There are cheaper ones as low as $1,700, but I wasn't convinced of the quality.

Email me off-list with any questions, or at least CC me as I don't always monitor the board.

Default Never had it until 2 days ago...

On Wednesday I filled up a pretty empty tank at Costco (cheapo me) And right from the first gallon the nozzle started tripping, every time when I retracted it, it was hissing. I pulled out the nozzle a couple of times and started filling with the hand on the trigger really slow. It still kept tripping, but got better gallon by gallon.

Default Just lock unlock your car, that will release whatever is doing that.

It used to happen to me and I dicovered (actually after reading the manual) that sometimes, whatever the name is (been some time and forgot the name for it) remains locked and with just locking/unlocking your car releases it.
