A4 one.eight

Came to a stop, heard a very slight "clunk" and when I accelerated, the exhaust sound was stronger and sounded like it was coming from under the center console. Definitely less power. Unfortunately it only lasted a few minutes. It only sounded that way when the car was in gear (manual). Revving the engine in neutral sounded normal. Anyone with any thoughts--similar experience? I have a 2/03 build and thought I was beyond the CP issue.

I'm clueless about the anatomy of our engines, but could it be that the exhaust sprung a leak somewhere between cylinder and turbo? Would explain change in exhaust sound and loss of power, and possibly even loss of symptoms when not under load, since you're not calling on the turbo then.
