Default Well, update to the MIL light I had last week...

took it to the dealer and it seems I need a new catylitic (sp?) converter.

Makes me wonder what all these things would end up costing me if I were getting the repairs done out of warranty.

Seriously rethinking if I'm keeping this car once the warranty is done.

Default Did they say what exactly went wrong with the catalyst?

As in, eg, did too much gas somehow get in, or somehow too much carbon monoxide that it got poisoned, etc?

Default No, just that the code said the converter had exceeded efficiency limits

They reset the code and I haven't had the fault again so far driving home yesterday or to work today.

Part should be in next week.

Default MIL/CEL lit up on my parents' Allroad a while ago...

Before I brought it to the dealer I got somebody to VAG it for me; it said something about the cat too. When they brought the car in though, AoR said they couldn't find anything wrong...

By the way, their CEL is lit again now, for a different reason: they got rear-ended, and AoR is ordering in 2 new O2 sensors, a new cat (the advisor claimed it's damaged in the accident, just as well), and the whole left (or is it right) side of the exhaust as repairs... Thank goodness my parents weren't at fault and won't need to foot the bill!
