What are the advantages/disadvantages of 2 or 3 piece wheels vs. 1 piece?

There are many advantages to a 3 piece wheel...(not too long)
3 piece wheels are made in 3 pieces, as the name implies. The advantage is that you can custom make your wheel by playing with the x-factor and offset. The manufacters have a bunch of centers,lips, and rims(the part of the rim after the lip)in stock. The size lip desired is tipically welded to the rim, and the center, which is shaved accordingly at the pad is riveted to this part. Or all pieces can be held by rivets, depending on the wheel design. To make a long story short, you can make a car look like it has stagerd fitment, without having different size wheels. Or you can make the wheel have a massive lip, within reason, and keep it 8.5" wide
