What can you tell me about the VW 504.00 spec?

What can you tell me about the VW 504.00 spec?
Went down to napa today to pick up a filter and my usual mobil 1 0w-40. Anyways they were all out of the large filters so I figured if I had to order the filter online I might as well get the oil online as well and save some money, since they're charging $9/quart for the m1.
Looking around ecs tuning I came across a new spec, vw504.00 on the castrol slx 5w-30. From what I understand this is the newest oil spec from vw/audi. Is this a better choice for my 1.8t then the 502 or 503.01? At 7.55 per liter it's pretty enticing but i'd definitely rather do it right then do it cheap.
