i wanna upgrade my factory hid bulbs to 6000K. from what i gather, i would need a D1S bulb for a direct plug and play replacement. however, prices for the Osram and Philips Ultinon 6000K bulbs are quiet high, whereas D2S prices are much lower. can i retrofit my factory hid housing to take D2S? im thinking i can just change the base of my bulb holder, but how do i do that and what do i need?
(i know Osram is 5400k and Ultinon is 5800k but i just refer to them as 6000k)

How do you do that? Go find a used D2S housing and scavange the parts you need.
You will also require a differenet set of cables as the D1S cables are not the same a D2S ones which also require an ignitor for the bulb.
If you don't know what you need and how to do it I honestly think it'll be cheaper to go buy the D1S bulbs and make them work that way vs. damaging a headlight and having to replace it.
