what level do brakes have to wear to in order to be replaced under warranty?

Legally, to pass State Inspection or maybe just the indicator light on (diy, wink)

Default I believe it is 5mm or under.
I tried to get some front pads before my 50k warranty was up but damn the pads still had 8mm left!

Default I'm pissed, my rears measured out at 5.5mm (I think that was so that they don't have to replace)
I'm going to try to see if I can get them replaced on the cuff before the warranty expires in 2 weeks

drive around with the e-brake partially engaged for a bit, that should take care of it =)
