Default What size tires???

I have an 02 Audi A4 3.0 quattro non-sport package that I am getting some 17x7 wheels for. I want to know what size (and brand and model) tires to put on. I've never bought a set of rims before. These rims will primarily be my summer wheels, but I am concerned about making sure I have traction in the rain.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Chuck

Default you should really consider something like 17x8 or at least 17x7.5 instead...

because the proper tire size should be 235/45/17, and a 7"-wide rim may be a tad bit too narrow to support a 235-wide tire.

or if you stick with 17x7, then maybe just use a 215/50 tire - pretty close to stock diameter.

Unfortunately the rims I am getting only come in 7" wide in the 17s.

Default and in that size I'd look at Dunlop SP9000...

unfortunately not that many good tires are made in that particular size.

Default Nitto 450

I found the Nitto 450, and like the agressive tread and the fact that they are all-season. They come in a 225-45-17. Is that close to where I need to be???

Default if you want all-season, then I'd look at Dunlop SP5000 or Sumitomo HTR+ or

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S if you decide to go with 225/45 - that particular size has a bit smaller diameter than you need, but I guess it would do.
