Default OK, I just looked in the manual and it said...

Factory Fill is 0w30.

If you can't find 0w30 to use 5w30 or 5w40 - it does not state 0w40.

I couldn't find any 5w40, however.

Why did I think it said 0w40?

And just to double check, it's 6.6 quarts needed for the oil/filter change?

Thanks..

I like Kendall GT-1 5w40. Full synthetic and meets all ACEA standards required by Audi.

Default My manual states the same thing for my 1.8t. Either viscosity will work fine....

0W-40 tends to be the choice because of the better Euro spec'd oils offered in that grade (same with 0W-30). Most 5W-40's are not the premo oils.
The difference between the 0W-XX & 5W-XX is that one has a lower temp. pour point (winter grade) then the other. A 5W-40 will be fine as well. I'd still get the Motul Ester E-Tech 0W-40 (check out the standards/approvals) it's got them and goes beyond. The ester base is much better then the others. If you want a 5W-40, then get FUCHS ProS 5W-40. Or go with whatever makes you happy.

Default That too.

I was trying to offer a less expensive choice and in a 0W-40. But the FUCHS would work too.

Default Yeah, I don't really need a 0w oil, it doesn't get *that* cold here...

I would like a 5w40, but I could not find that anywhere.

Where can I get the FUCHS ProS 5w40?

Hmmm, Audi Junkie is mysteriously quiet. Must be on a business trip. ;-)

Default And secondly, would it be better for me to get a 5w or 10w?

Meaning, would I gain anything? I understand that a 0w will pour at like -65 degrees F, where as 5w and 10w are higher than that, so what is the difference? Will a 10w do better in the summer?? Should I stop being so paranoid about this?!
