Pardon the silly question, gentlemen. Let me start my saying that as of last weekend, I am a proud new owner of a 2005 A4 1.8TQ 5SP.. and that I'm female. I've tried to navigate through some posts but I guess I just don't get it. Could someone please enlighten me?

A turbo is an air compressor that's operated by exhaust gas: the exhaust gas spins a turbine, which drives another turbine on the air intake side and compresses the air going into the engine. The idea is to feed the engine more oxygen, and generate more power than a given engine size would itself be capable of making.
