My AUDI is supposed to be in next week. I feel rather fortunate. Short term interest rates are at the bottom. Yes...you should be able to get great deals in the near term. HOWEVER, rates are done going down. Furthermore, soon they will be headed back up.
Now I agree that sales over the next few months will be among the slowest of the year, but remember that we are at the absolute bottom (in my humble opinion) of the economic cycle. I would be willing to bet that the 2003 buyers will be wishing they had the same incentives that we had to buy.
The Dallas Auto Show starts tomorrow and I am supposed to take delivery by March 10th. I cant't wait.

However, I have been speaking to several people who are in the know, and they tell me Audi is only looking for marginal gains this year. This means a slight car shortage during the peak summer season. The reasoning is that Audi is asking dealers to make a lot of improvements, and improved gross profits for dealers will help fund this. The big upcoming ad campaign will also keep demand high.
Makes sense. Helps brand preception long term as a high value item, and through that, resale will be better than ever. It will hurt short term to those people who expect big discounts when buying an Audi, but long term brand goals will be well met using this strategy.
