you're serious about modding.
I think I'm about middle of the road as far as modding speed. I've had my car for 14 months now.
If you have questions, try searching the forum and if you don't find sufficient info there just ask.
The bottom line is that you shouldn't put a part on your car unless YOU are comfortable with it and with the people you are buying it from (not to mention the shop you are having install it, unless you do that yourself).
That said, a good start is a new DV, exhaust, maybe a chip (although I suggest upgrading the peripherals either at the same time or before you chip).
Also, you should wait until you have your car properly broken in, and you're comfortable with it working properly before you start the modding bonnanza.

For an inexpensive brake upgrade I'd be searching for info on the b5s4 calipers and rotors.
For suspension I'd be looking for H-sport sway bars and either vogtland coilovers or KW coilovers.
For inexpensive yet light wheels and tires I'd select something like the flik wasp in 18x8 along with some sticky summer tires.
Now that you can stop and turn properly, I'd begin looking for more power. Expect to spend about $3000 on getting the car to turn and stop properly if you are doing all of the work yourself. If not expect it to cost even more.
As for more power with the AMB engine I'd be interested in the recent software + injector offerings from GIAC and APR. Add a full exhaust and thats upwards of $2K installed.
Appearances... maybe I'd buy a stock trunk spoiler and the ultrasport front valance along with some stock door blades.
