5w-40 M1 T&S rules, 24% esters. Check my sig, it's inbetween 0w-40 and 15w-40 weight.

u huh...i dont understand...so you say 5w40 is better in socal weather for 1.8t?

better than 0w-40

The "W" is the winter rating. 0w means it'll crank down to -25f. You can use 5w @-20f, 10w @-10f.

So, because of weather, the W rating is not important to you. It is best just to pick the better product, which M1 5w-40 is. You probally could use 15w-40 dino if you do not see below +20f. I am using $1.75/q dino Mobil Delvac 1300S 15w-40 now, no difference in quality over synth. Only cold-cranking and mpg stipulation seperates Mobil 1 0w-40(Mercedes 229.3 spec) and Delvac 1300S (MB 228.3 spec).
