Default Wheel info required...

I'm contemplating replacing the 17 x 7.5 ET45mm offset 'Sport' alloys with the RS4 replicas; these are generally 18 x 8 with ET30mm offset.

My question is, how far outwards will the replicas be pushed beyond the existing wheel i.e.

Will it be

6.35mm + (45-30) = 21.35mm (half the effect of the increase in the 0.5" wheel width)

or

12.7mm + (45-30) = 27.7mm (the full effect of the increase in the 0.5" wheel width)

??

27.7mm would certainly push the wheels & tyres outside the wheel arch which is illegal here in the UK, it might look a bit odd as well!

Other alternatives would be to consider the ET35mm offset or go for the vastly more expensive Audi RS4 type alloys which have an offset of 43mm.

Also does 'TUV approved' have any credence when purchasing alloys??

Any help will be much appreciated

Cheers

Default Here's a good wheel calculator to check your math...

Also, here's a tire and wheel calculator for some more info...
