Default wheel weight question : 27-23(25)-20 pounds

Quick question on weight.

The stock 17" sport wheel is supposedly 27 pounds.

The BBS CH 18"x8.5" are 23 (25) pounds.

The BBS RC 18"x8.5" are 20 pounds.

I prefer the looks of the CH, but the RC offer another 12 pounds in wheel weight savings.

The RC could give me an inch, plus shave 28 pounds off the suspension - whatever the increase is in an 18" tire.

What's with the RC centercap thing? Anything weird with these rims?

----

Part of my "mod" strategy may involve weight reduction. Try this, get your car heavy, spare-in, trunk full of stuff, stuff in the back seat, full tank of gas. Drive around for a few days - yes hauling *** is hard with crap flying all over the place.

Then, after a few days (get used to the heavy weight first), yank the spare, empty all the dead weight and run the gas tank at 1/4 full.

The car has more a little more zip/pep.

I know unprung suspension weight and vehicle weight are different things, but what are some things (if any?) that might could be done to lower overall vehicle weight?

----

alright SKareKrow, I'm about one bong hit away from joining the group buy...

Default I was mislead, are the RC wheels actually 20 pounds?

The CH wheels do look a little heavy with that largish center cap area.

Default Lots were misled. BBS claims they made changes to the design and "forgot" to tell the public.

Dunno about CH's sorry.

true, but I'm vehicle weight, the wheels are part of the unsprung weight of the suspension

Default The RC is a great wheel. I have them on both my cars.

The silver finish is awesome. No big deal with the center caps. They screw on and off without a problem. BBS does supply you with a pastic wrench to help remove the caps.

Default IT's also rotational mass, which plays a big part in acceleration.

The larger diameter wheel you go to, the more weight is held farther from the center, and is harder to get up to speed.
