this is from another thread of mine that's buried on page 5 or so....
Ok, if you got a camera / film question ask me....
I'm not 'in the know' when it comes to cars.
Something wrong, I take it to the mechanic...
so bear with me.
When someone says BBS will clear a b6 S4, what do I look for here ?
I'm looking at BBS RGR's.
18x8
They use 235/40-18 tires.
That's exactly what comes stock on A4/S4's with 18's....
Why would they not clear ?
What's wheel offset ?
How do certain wheels affect brake clearance ?
Or I guess what is brake clearance ?
Also, I've been looking at different reviews of Tires.
P zero Nero m+S looks great.
Along with the Potenza 750's.
Any thoughts on them ?
Performance vs. ride comfort and noise ?
Thanks for the insight

like stoptechs or brembos should you ever decide to upgrade. If I recall, you were also looking at the OZ SLs which will clear a big brake kit (BBK) with no problem. Many times when you go to a wheel with a lip you have a harder time clearing upgraded brakes. The RGRs will clear you stock brakes with no problem. With regards to tires, you need to let us know what your priorities are (wet, dry, wear, noise, snow, price). cheers! Mike

thanks Mike.
Damn, why would a high end wheel not be able to house a bbk ?
I was also looking at the OZ's as well, like you said.
Not sure what I'm doing yet, as I'm trying to get out of my lease to get into an S4, which I should have done in the first place and also NOT gone tip. I miss my manual tranny.... thanks again.
Yes, I did shoot that dolphin/surfer image.

JJ,
Thanks for the insight.
Just can't imagine why they'd do that.
Oh well......
What about another 4 piston caliper, like the Porsche 993 brake set ?
When someone says a bbk, does that mean a 6 piston caliper/rotor set up ?
thanks again,
kj
