Touareg V10 TDI has 310hp & mind-numbing 553lb/ft of torque

at 2000rpm. About 70K+, but that's nothing compared with cost of fuel it requires. Perhaps it could be stuffed into a smaller frame with really lethal results?

Or perhaps the low sulfur the US is pushing hard and the large emission regulations
coming into play on the new Diesels. hell, my new work trucks have an oil burner canister in the exhaust. Its an exhaust catch can and when it gets full the exhaust/motor goes through a burn cycle when you sit somewhere. Lots of warnings for it, reaches like 2k degrees.

The current European Car mag has a B8 Avant first drive report, the article says Audi....
is introducing TDI in the Q7, and depending on orders for TDI Q7s, will expand availability accordingly. Touareg TDIs are rare, I wonder how many Q7/new Audi customers will opt for the TDI 3.0l V6, (also a torque monster,) hopefully enough to add the B8, but I expect a flop.
Confirmed also, B8 Avant only available with 2.0L and six speed tip, and quattro with added features. No Avant S4 or RS4. The report states that the fixed equipment list is supposedly to "simplify" Avant options ordering complexity by offering almost no option choices. Audi of America's Vice President of Marketing and Audi's Board of Management, Director of Marketing earned their executive compensation packages with this innovative scheme. More likely it will kill the B8>A4 Avant for NA, cost more to build, less profit margins, after all.
I apologize for wining so much about the B8 Avant, I know most of the forum's members don't care, preferring a sedan anyway.

That is because BMW Marketing is not confused about how product availability drives the market. IMO
Audi's approach is backyards, I think. They want to supply eager market demand, but without the available hardware on the sales floor, to promote increased awareness and sales interest by possible buyers, I don't believe the stipulated sales volume will be achieved here anytime soon.
For example, how many people seeking an A4, are going to test drive a TDI powered Q7?

Your sig,...
That was really upsetting news, especially when I realized in hind sight the farewell message hidden in his last post to the forum. ("Tgr-Clw"s unusual reply to that post is noteworthy also,)In retrospect, the post was an announcement to the forum without disclosure, a dignified notice that preserved his privacy.
Reading between the lines was only possible after the news, illuminates the situation of the crisis occurring as he was aware the end of his struggle was imminent. I didn't know the guy, except as an active enthusiast here on the forum, but it's like the sudden unexpected loss of a special extended family member for me.
