Car forums as well. But it's risky to find cheap ones unless they were dropped.

Default Pardon my Engrish. I mean risky to find cheap ones because they'e been mishandled.

Like dropped. If it's cosmetic damage, that may be okay. But you'll never know if the internals are still okay. The case for V1 is optional so owners who frequently shuffle it between cars are prone to mishandling it.

I guess I'm saying don't buy it sight unseen. It's not a cheap device so I'd be warry why one would sell it cheap. Ask for the serial number and run this against V1 web site to see if it's an updated model and call their company to see if it's not reported as stolen or tampered. V1 can be updated continually for a price. It wouldn't be good to invest in a product this pricey if you can't benefit from it for what it's worth.

How can you have them tested to see if they are still good?

Your going to have to send it in to test it. V1 website will explain the cost.

Default Yup. And adding to what MB said...you can check if it's current by going to their site here:

<a href="http://www.valentine1.com/upgrades/">Valentine 1</a>

Get the S/N (10-digit) and run it at the bottom of the page. It will tell you if it's the latest and the cost to make it the latest.
