Take your finger and push on the hose. If it is almost rock hard, it's as good as new. If your thumb pushes it in, it's starting to deteriorate. Depending on how quickly the dimple from your thumb recovers can tell you how thin the wall of the hose has become. If you push in and your thumb punches through, you're now ready for a new part.
