Default Why can't I get the foul A/C smell to go away????

every time I start the car, I get a bad smell from the a/c vents. I've tried the recommended fix I found while searching, which is to turn the econ button for the last few minutes of my trip. I've also sprayed a/c cleaner on my filter and fresh air intake on the right side of the car. I've tried every kind of deoderizer and I also asked the dealer to do something about it on my first service. IT STILL SMELLS. I've never had a car do this before and I consider this the nicest car I've ever had. My wife's passat is almost 3 years old and never smells. What do I do??

Default After running your A/C for a while (10-20minutes) leave the car in your driveway with the windows

open and crank the heat on high....basically set it to AUTO and set both temps to HI. Let it run on full fan for about 5-8 minutes. This should dry out your ducts and maybe your evaporator. You may have crap growing on the evaporator in the HVAC unit which is often hard to get rid of.

Default Sounds like you have done the right things. My guess is that the drain may be not working right

allowing water to sit in there too long. Dealer will probably have to fix it.

Default I have taken it to the dealer.

I am also a service advisor for MB and have customers with the same problem(especially new C and E classes). I will try to run the heat for 10 minutes with the windows down hopefully that will help. The dealer sprayed frigefresh in there and the smell went away for a whole day. I just want to know if there is a known product for the fix. we have a product made by Wurth which we use, but my customers have the same problem. I will look into the drain. I don't see how it would get clogged, seeing that I don't park under any trees, ever! The car stays in a closed garage every night. I also live in louisiana which is really humid. The only thing that I have noticed is that it started after I got my car chipped. Do you think this would have anything to do with it???

Default All I can suggest is that you take it to another dealership.

I think that its pretty impressive that you work for MB and drive an Audi!

Default Next nearest dealer is an hour away!

All of my fellow co-workers are impressed with my ultrasport. The only MB I would have gotten is the C230wz, which sounds like it has an exhaust leak from the factory and is not half as nice as my A4. Just my opinion though!
