Why did Audi close up the side trunk storage space on the '04 and '05 models?

Default Why did Audi close up the side trunk storage space on the '04 and '05 models?
In my '02 I can easily fit a set of golf clubs just inside the trunk because the space just inside the trunk on both sides is open. I was at a dealership on Sat. getting my 40K service and was peaking around a new A4 and noticed that those spaces are now closed in by paneling. Granted you can still use the space for storage but for me to put my clubs in that trunk would require them to be placed at an angle thereby using alot of the trunk floor space and making it more difficult to pack additional items.

Don't know if anyone else has made this observation or not, or even cares for that matter. Just thought I'd bring it up.

Default Only models with the sharkfin have the closed spots.
That's where satellite radio goes.

true, but I think the new B7 will own us all. it has all of the options and then some.
