Why do most people hate manual transmissions?

Like in a go/no go situation like a traffic light, someone waves me in front of them, bam! I am on the gas in a microsecond instead of the clutch, shift, gas, shift operation. This is just one example and I realize someone's whole day does not consist of this manouver but I am trying to point out where an automatic actually is faster. One can even say a stick is no faster at all because there is always a light or stop sign ahead, lol.

When they realize they do not know how to drive your car, they may talk it down to cover their unwelcome sense of inadequacy.
Most manual owners want to be in control. An auto does what it is programmed to, which is almost never what I want it to do (unless cruising on the interstate, when the only complaint against the auto is extra fuel consumption.)
Some accept a compromise for whatever reason and get an auto. Then they drive it in sport mode to give a sense of control. But doesn't = manual, as one sees when downshifting before a turn and hitting the throttle and there's that 1 second pause while the auto tries to figure out what you are asking it to do.
My final ding on auto is their long term reliability (not). My family members have had autos in the past, and they all do major crap-out before 100K miles. Perhaps new sealed units may fare better, but no Audi manual I've owned ever had a problem. And a repaired automatic never drives right again imo. It's time to dump the car as soon as the auto tranny croaks.
ymmv.

As you and I know, not eveyone is paying 100% all of the time;-) All it takes is a cranky synchro or gear, to slow a manual car down.
Each has it's place IMHO.
